Privacy policy

Plain-language answers about what Saydawn uses, why, and how you stay in control.

Saydawn is an English speaking practice app made by Michaurel Group LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app and this website use, why, and the choices you have.

1. Information the app uses

Your settings and progress

Your level, goals, saved words, streak, lesson history and conversation scores are stored only on your device. We do not have a copy.

What you say in conversations

When you speak, your phone's built-in speech recognition service (provided by Apple on iPhone and by Google on Android) turns your voice into text. Saydawn does not record, receive or store your voice audio. Depending on your device settings, that speech service may process audio under Apple's or Google's own privacy policies.

The text of your replies, your level, your goals and the role-play scenario are sent to our server so the AI coach can answer, correct you and score your session.

Reports you send

If you tap "Report" on an AI reply, correction or lesson, we receive the reported text and its context so we can review it and improve the app.

Technical data

Our server briefly uses your IP address to prevent abuse (rate limiting). It is held in memory and not stored.

We do not collect your name, contacts, location or payment details in the app. Saydawn has no ads and no third-party tracking.

2. How the AI coach works

Saydawn's lessons, replies and feedback are generated by AI. We send the text described above to Anthropic, the provider of the Claude AI models, which processes it to generate a response under its commercial terms. See Anthropic's privacy information at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.

We ask first. Nothing is sent to the AI until you agree, either during setup or on the "Turn on AI coaching" card. You can withdraw that permission at any time under Progress › About › AI coaching › Turn off. With AI coaching off, no conversation text or lesson request is sent.

Our server does not keep a record of your conversations. AI responses can contain mistakes. Please use the Report button if something is wrong or inappropriate.

3. This website

If you join the early access list or send us a message through this website, we receive the email address and any details you choose to give. We use them only to reply to you or to tell you when Saydawn launches. Our website host processes form submissions on our behalf. You can ask us to delete them at any time.

4. Why we use information

  • To create your daily lessons and coach replies
  • To score your sessions and suggest what to practice
  • To review reported content and improve safety and quality
  • To answer your messages and send the launch email you asked for
  • To keep the service secure and prevent misuse

We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.

5. Sharing

We share conversation text only with Anthropic, as our AI service provider, to produce responses. We use a website host to receive form submissions. We may disclose information if required by law.

6. Retention and deletion

  • Progress on your device stays until you delete the app or clear its data.
  • Conversation text is processed to generate a reply and is not stored on our server.
  • Reports are kept for up to 12 months for review, then deleted.
  • Early access emails are kept until launch plus 6 months, or until you ask us to delete them.

7. Children

Saydawn is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

Data between the app or this website and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). No method of transmission is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect information.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have rights to access, correct or delete information about you. Contact support@saydawn.com and we will respond within the time required by law.

10. Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the effective date above.
